Divide a map into several submaps quickly

We are making it easier to manage complex networks of information, by enabling you to split a map into several submaps more easily. In Septemeber, we introduced the ability for users to extract parts of a complex map into a new map. We are now extending this functionality to support multi-selection and batch processing.

Instead of just the currently selected node, all activated nodes (in case of multi-selection) will be transformed into sub-maps. For example, to move all branches starting with third-level nodes into their own maps, you can now easily do the following:

  1. Press the 3 key on the keyboard to activate all third-level nodes
  2. use the File menu, and select the Create a linked submap option.

This will create individual maps for all the current third-level nodes, move the contents of the subtrees into those maps, and then provide a link from the main map to the sub-maps in place of the previous subtrees.

Limitations

This is currently a beta feature with some known limitations. We plan to open the feature to more use cases in the future.

Submaps are currently not inheriting sharing privileges, so if the original map is shared with someone, you will need to manually share the submap as well.
